Training for anyone involved in front line signposting

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Newham Council are offering One Newham members free training. The training is a development pathway for staff or volunteers in the borough who are regularly having conversations with residents who are presenting with a range of social welfare issues. The training covers:

  • having the initial conversations with residents – what are their key issues and how do I prioritise support for them?

  • a range of 90 minute training modules on specific services and how best to refer into them. Topics include: Housing and Homelessness, Finance and Employability, Working with Migrants – Bitesize session, Drug and Alcohol Addictions (CGL), The COVID-19 Vaccine, Children and Young People’s mental wellbeing, Early Help and Family Support, Adult Mental Health in the context of The Care Act, Digital Inclusion, Safeguarding and Domestic Violence. The full programme is attached here.

The purpose of this is to enhance the skills you already have! And facilitate you getting in touch with others having similar conversations across the borough. For more information, watch a short video - the link is on the first page of this attachment.
