Support for kids who have a parent in prison

Corona Kids is an organisation that supports London Children of prisoners by supporting the adults around them. We currently have real concerns about the impact of COVID-19 on prisoners families who are now unable to visit loved ones in prison and often face multiple disadvantages which may magnify during this difficult time.

Research is showing that BAME communities can be more heavily impacted by Covid 19 and so we are delivering a Welfare Telephone Support Service to London Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Prisoner Families. We would really appreciate it if you could circulate this information to key colleagues and send out in comms to the community so we can support your residents. Please see attached a flyer and information. The telephone service aims to improve the emotional wellbeing of BAME prisoner families caring for children by connecting them to local sources of practical and emotional support. Families must be caring for a child under 18. This service is being funded by The Big Lottery Corona Virus Community Fund.

We are also delivering a Prisoner Families Online Peer Support Group for all London prisoner families caring for children. This group takes place every second Wednesday over Zoom and is an opportunity for parents/carers to share information and experiences.

If you need any further information please do not hesitate to email me or I can be contacted on 07768 647339.

Kind regards
